There’s a new kid in town. The 2019 Subaru Ascent is scheduled to make its debut in dealerships across the country this summer. In fact, Bachman Subaru got a chance to unveil the much awaited model in our showroom earlier this month!
If you have been a Subaru aficionado for a while, you might recall the 2006 Subaru Tribeca – the brand’s first attempt in creating at a 3-row crossover to keep growing families in the family.
Since the Tribeca was axed in 2014, a new crossover is making its grand appearance. The 2019 Subaru Ascent is the latest and greatest 7- passenger, 3-row crossover. It’s the perfect solution for those too cool to buy a minivan.
Subaru has a long track record of being environmentally friendly, family oriented and capable. The Ascent is no exception. With 7-passenger seating capacity, the Ascent is almost as large as the Chevy Tahoe. In fact, it is the largest and most expensive Subaru crossover yet.
All of the necessary features… including 19 cupholders.
Competing against the likes of the Honda Pilot, Toyota Highlander and Ford Explorer, Subaru pulled out the big guns and gave the new crossover 19 cupholders. That’s about 2.5 cupholders per person. We’re sure there are other big wins for this new model, but with a detail like that, are there really? Just kidding, of course there are.
But at this rate, your Starbucks run, morning juice and afternoon Big Gulp can all make the cut. No need to choose between fixes.
And while you sip your beverage of choice in the carpool line, enjoy the interior of the Subaru Ascent, featuring 4G LTE Wi-Fi, eight USB ports, 120-volt power outlet and 153.5 cubic feet of passenger volume. It’s enough technology and space to provide all of the essentials for your hectic schedule.
Families definitely have the advantage of the roomy cabin and various folding seat configurations to haul everything from Costco runs to baseball gear. The doors even open at a wide 75 degrees for easier access to the third row. Go head, pile in a few extra kids and cases of La Croix!
For the Outdoorsy type…
The much-awaited crossover aims to be more than another soccer mom haven. All-wheel drive comes standard on all models, which allows for easy navigation of snowy and wet conditions.
The Ascent offers up 8.7 inches of ground clearance, 5,000 pounds of towing capacity, and the ability to mount a tent with the standard roof rails; however, given its size, we don’t expect to see this as the ideal off-roading camping vehicle. The Ascent will scale small obstacles here and there, without much fuss, as long as you don’t exceed the limits of the ride height or overhangs. This model likes to keep all four wheels on steady ground, but does offer up a few aspects of outdoor adventure.
The panoramic moonroof opens up to reveal your very own planetarium. The moonroof tilts back for cooler nights or slides back to offer a complete outdoor experience without ever leaving the comfort of your roomy crossover.
If you plan on hauling a small camper through Kentuckiana, consider the extra roof space the Subaru Ascent offers. In motion, the Ascent can haul 176 pounds on the roof. When parked, the model can handle 700 pounds up top, so mount your tent to the roof rails, snuggle up and avoid unwanted forest creatures as overnight guests.
The Ascent is also equipped with a windshield wiper de-icer and heated side mirrors, which will come in handy after a solid snowfall.
If being “outdoorsy” really isn’t your thing, you will enjoy the fresh air and warm sunshine as you cruise through town. You’ll be right at home in the Subaru Ascent.
The Subaru Ascent has arrived to quench the thirst so many have for the crossover-style vehicle. Bachman Subaru looks forward to its arrival in Summer 2018.
